An interesting model of Business Blog

Most of you will be aware of the most popular blogs business models. A large majority of blogs are based on revenue advertising such as banner ads and paid reviews. Once a very successful blog, its owners usually branch and sell physical and digital too such as books, courses in composition and content of the premium. Many successful bloggers simply use their blog as a platform to promote their own consulting services.

It is important to do a little research on what business model is suitable for you and your blog, because it will be the way you make money through blogging. When I started my WordPress blog a year ago, I decided to adopt a magazine model and earn money by advertising banner, adding paid reviews once the site is more successful.

Once the site is established, that I will be in a good position to sell products through it, also, in the same way that Darren has launched its workbooks fantastic blogging via ProBlogger and the hugely popular ProBlogger book.

The majority of blogs fall into the 10 Business Blog templates that Skellie talked about a few years, there is however nothing stopping doing you something a little different.

A good example of this is WP Candy (one of my favorite on WordPress blogs). Well designed and updated regularly with great content, its owner Ryan Imel adopted the model of the WP Candy magazine, although he was doing things a little differently. Instead of selling advertising banners, WP Candy was able to stay without advertising using a system of so-called "Powered By".

The "powered by" system is quite simple. Each ticket blog has a small link at the bottom stating "powered" position. It is very similar to those that allow advertisers to sponsor a position, although there is a main difference: instead of the link go to the sponsor's Web site, it goes to a page thank you on WP Candy tells you more about the Web site, which lists the number of posts, the sponsoring company has sponsored (take a look at the largest contributor for an example).

Advertisers have a number of ways that they can get exposure on the site. Only $5 a month will help a link in a post of thanks each month, while a single payment of $50 will give you a permanent "powered by" link on a post and a thank you in the weekly podcast.

Skeptics can look at the business model that Candy WP adopted and say that all they do is selling links of text instead of advertising banners. It is perhaps the case, although they did not break all the rules - they are simply linking to a page dedicated to developers and the links on this page are coded "nofollow".

So, what they have managed to achieve is offer a unique way for advertisers to promote their products and services, removing all the banners on the site, making the reading experience more enjoyable to the reader (something that Leo Babauta has Zen habits).

I only am not encourage you to adopt the "Powered By" Candy WP system was created. What I should encourage you, is to be more creative in how you make money through your blog.

Build a more personal relationship with your advertisers and encourage your readers to interact with them.Develop products of high quality and services that are related to your blog.Grow your subscriber base newsletter so that you can interact with your readers more.Do something interesting - something which does no other blog in your niche.

I would like to hear interesting ways that you generate income for your blog. Do you have exceeded the model business magazine and developed alternative ways to earn money from your site?
