This drama musicals can teach us about writing great Blog

A few weeks ago, I started to think that the similarities between blogs and write a piece of musical theatre: in both cases, we strive to raise the emotions of our audiences, which in turn should motivate them to take one any action.

Be they amateur theatre or blog visitors, is the art of telling a good story that makes all the difference in their response to our field.

Michael Kunze has some fascinating insights on storytelling:

"I am a professional storyteller, although I started as a songwriter." When I had stories to tell that would fall in the format of small of a song, became a playwright of the music scene. By studying the elements of musicals, I soon discovered that all were based on the same type of structure. »

"And I discovered something surprising... the story is told primarily through its structure.". Quite a coup for someone who believes in the power of words and phrases! »

"Over the years I've developed a very distinct structure for my dramatic comedies." So far, I wrote five original performances, and each of them has become an international success. In total, they reached more than 15 million people. I have no doubt that I have this success to the fact that my musical comedies are more structured than most. »

Consider a method for Michael to tell a much more detailed story.

Initially, we learn the protagonist (hero) desire to achieve a certain goal. With powerful antagonistic forces, our hero has initially descends into a "hole" with seemingly insurmountable obstacles. To retrieve all kinds of difficulties and continue on the path of realization, it must overcome one or more of its shortcomings. As the story unfolds, the protagonist meets a number of dramatic turns and surprising twists, which further illustrate the different stages of progress. After a key experience to the end of the story, our hero has learned its lessons and become a better person. It is now ready to complete his trip.

Therefore, if you applied the principles of musical dramas with success in your writing?

You are the protagonist in your blog!

Protagonists travel writing and describing your experiences with products, advice, tools online, recipes, personal growth issues, or whatever the subject, you blog-your stories must fascinate readers through an emotional ride of a difficulty to a satisfactory end early.

Help your audience to identify with you, the hero of your story. Ask these questions:

What obstacles retained you responsible for achieving the desired results? He was shy, ignorance, pride, indecision and procrastination and lack of self-esteem?What you have to do to remedy your situation? Stand against nay-sayers (including yourself)? Put in some extra work through courses and research? Let go of old habits? Get your "dip"?What are some of the steps which means your continuous progress? What led you to take in the face of adversity? Previews have confirmed that you were on the right track? What great staff breakthrough meet you in the end? What have you learned about yourself that took you the desired success level? Now that you have reached your goals, how can your readers to benefit from your efforts? How can you solve their problems or make their lives better and easier? What is your special gift to your audience?

Words of advice Michael:

"Most of us tend to write as we speak - unstructured." But blogs are not that different from other forms of writing. To capture the interests of the reader to give a history. "A story with a beginning, a middle and an end."

"Even better: a history of one or two surprising twists that takes the reader curious and eager to know the end.". And, make sure that you know the end before you start writing.

In fact quite simple, isn't it? Do you use the structure of narrative in your blog?
